Kennedy College created a little bit of history on the evening of the 28th of May 2020 when it hosted its first online graduation ceremony. Staff, Students, parents/guardians and friends gathered together using Microsoft Office 365 Teams to celebrate the Class of 2020 Graduation.
The evening, organised by the Kennedy College Graduation Committee including Ms Whelan, Ms Sutton, Ms Doyle and many more, was hosted by the Principal Mr Weafer.
Over the course of the evening, all in attendance were treated to wonderful videos, images, memories and kind words from a range of different people including former Principal, Ms Suzanne Barrett, Wexford Senior hurlers, Kevin Foley, Aidan Nolan, Lee Chin, Diarmuid O’ Keefe and Kilkenny senior hurlers Joey Holden and Eoin Murphy, who is also a past student of Kennedy College.
Other well-wishers included many of the current staff, past student Brian Gannon and a special guest appearance from Niall de Búrca who hoped the students of Kennedy College would live their own ‘great tale, a mighty story.’ Neill also encouraged the 6th years to remember always that ‘The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure that you seek.’
Mr Kevin Lewis, CE and Ms Eimear Ryan, Director of Schools, also sent their best wishes to the class of 2020, encouraging each student to follow their dreams and offering the WWETB pathway to Further Education as an avenue to future success.
All in attendance had a wonderful evening which was packed full of positive messages and well wishes.
The ceremony was brought to a close by Mr Weafer, who on behalf of the Board of Management and staff of Kennedy College wished each student every success in the future. Mr Weafer encouraged each student to reflect not on what may have been lost as a result of our current context but on what we have gained and to take the lessons learned today, apply them to tomorrow, present the best version of ourselves and the world will be a better place for it.
