WEBINAR - Supporting your Child to Develop Positive Learning Habits with Avril Egan
This webinar is designed to assist parents and guardians in supporting their child to improve their academic performance. The aim is to inform parents and guardians about the small but invaluable support structures they can put in place at home which will in turn promote a more positive learning experience for their child and help develop a synergy between school and home.
The webinar will focus on a range of topics including:
• enhancing learning environments
• organisational skills
• strategies to help students avoid procrastination
• strategies to support the highly motivated or anxious student
• strategies to motivate the reluctant student
• Strategies to enhance students' informative retrieval
Avril Egan is a secondary school in Coláiste Bhaile Chláir which is a Microsoft Showcase school. Her subjects are French, and English and she has been teaching since 2007. She is the author of 'On y va', a Junior Cycle French text book.
Avril has held an assistant principal's post in teaching and learning for the last three years. She is passionate about researching and implementing initiatives and pedagogies that are innovation and which enhance student's learning but also teachers' pedagogical practice.
In 2009 she completed a Postgraduate diploma in School Leadership and has subsequently completed her Master's in School leadership which included a thesis on Online learning; An investigation into the potential for online teaching and learning in an Irish post-primary school – how to ensure high quality student learning and engagement online.
